Hiking Sibbergroeve

10 km from Sibbe through the Biebosch nature reserve to Oud Valkenburg Castle and then back uphill.

Sibbe is located on the edge of the Plateau of Margraten (South Limburg). This walk goes through the characteristic Limburg landscape into the Geul Valley. Here, when open, a visit can be made to the castle garden of Oud Valkenburg Castle. Alternatively, you can visit the De-drie-beeldjes nature monument by the Geul River. The path then continues with a steep climb back to the plateau. At the end of the walk, there is an opportunity to have a drink on the terrace of Café Aan de Kirk.

The route

  1. Starting Point: Sibberkerkstraat 47, 6301 AT Valkenburg, Netherlands
  2. One of the entrances to the Sibbe cave. There are more along the way, often overgrown or collapsed.
  3. Biebosch nature reserve
  4. Castle garden of Oud Valkenburg (See links below for opening hours and entrance fees)
